Save Three Sheets
Update!
Check out the video highlights from the Save Three Sheets Rally in New York City by clicking here or viewing it in the Videos area.
On December 1, 2008 the MOJOHD network went off the air, and with it the channel's top rated show, "Three Sheets". The prospect of never seeing their beloved show again didn't sit well with fans. So, I (Zane) invited Three Sheets people to join me in LA and NYC on "SAVE THREE SHEETS" protest marches. Over 700 people showed up.
Firstly, and most importantly-- THANK YOU so much to the everyone who turned out for the rallies. Your support meant the world to me, and I had a blast! I continue to tell everybody-- Three Sheets has the BEST fans on the world! It's true.
Here's how it went down...
On December 16, 2008, in Los Angeles, we all met up at Rock Sugar (10250 Santa Monica Blvd, Century City). After a few drinks of liquid courage, we took to the streets and marched around Century City, eventually making our way into Beverly Hills. Our second stop was Sinigal (9595 Wilshire Blvd) in Beverly Hills, where the group continued to grow in numbers. As dusk fell upon us, we marched back through Beverly Hills and Century City to the Pink Taco. The objective of the march/crawl was to get the attention of the networks with offices in Century City and the other entertainment-related companies along the way. And... to have some fun.
Two days later, on December 18, 2008, I landed in New York City for the East Coast rally. I was joined by Steve McKenna (who didn't disappoint) and Jim-the-Cop (who spilled a beer on his shirt). Everyone met at the Houndstooth Pub (520 8th Avenue at 37th) for a few pints. Then, when the bar couldn't fit us anymore, we marched to Times Square led by bagpipes and drums (awesome!). We made our way to Aspen Social Club (157 W. 47th St between 6th and 7th) where we did a shot (or two). The group then departed, and somehow got split up. We regrouped near Rockefeller Center and concluded our march at Sutton Place (1015 2nd Ave between 53rd and 54th) where the beer flowed like, well... beer.
At Sutton Place, we were joined by Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks-- but more importantly the owner of HDNet (a high-def TV network which is on nearly every HD carrier). That was VERY cool of Mark to show up. He expressed interest in acquiring Three Sheets for his channel. So, I bought him a beer. Now he owes us! Isn't that how it works? A beer for a show, right?
If you'd like to contact HDNet to let them know that you'd appreciate them putting Three Sheets on their lineup, that's entirely up to you. ;) So, the BIG question is: Was the rally as success??? Other than HDNet, there has been other interest in the show. We did raise some awareness to the show. And we succeeded in having a great time! But, I have nothing concrete to report as of now.
As soon as I know the fate of Three Sheets, I'll post it here, at ZaneLamprey.com.
Happy Holidays!
Zane
